DMXMA Conduct Policy

Introduction

DMXMA is a community built on respect, discipline, and shared responsibility. Every person who enters a DMXMA venue contributes to the safety, culture, and learning environment of our classes. This Conduct Policy outlines the standards of behaviour expected from instructors, assistant instructors, guest instructors, volunteers, students, parents, guardians, spectators, and visitors to ensure that all participants can train in a safe, positive, and inclusive space.

Martial arts training involves physical contact, structured instruction, and close interaction between people of different ages and abilities. For this reason, clear expectations are essential. This policy explains how individuals are expected to behave, how safety is maintained, and what actions DMXMA may take when conduct within our scope becomes unsafe or inappropriate.

This policy also clarifies the limits of DMXMA’s authority. While we are responsible for maintaining safety inside our training environment, we cannot regulate or intervene in incidents that occur outside DMXMA venues or class times. This protects students from unfair treatment and protects DMXMA from legal liability.

By entering a DMXMA venue or participating in DMXMA activities, all individuals agree to follow this Conduct Policy.

1. Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to:

  • maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive training environment

  • set clear expectations for behaviour, etiquette, and safety

  • outline prohibited behaviours and consequences

  • define DMXMA’s authority and its limits

  • support fair, consistent responses to conduct concerns

  • protect the wellbeing of students, families, instructors, and volunteers

2. Scope

This policy applies to all individuals while:

  • inside any DMXMA training venue

  • attending DMXMA classes, events, demonstrations, or activities

  • interacting with DMXMA instructors or volunteers in an official capacity

  • communicating with DMXMA through official channels (email, phone, social media)

DMXMA’s duty of care and authority begin when a student enters the venue and end when they leave.

3. Outside of class/venue Conduct

DMXMA cannot regulate, investigate, or enforce conduct that occurs between students, parents/guardians, or visitors when the behaviour takes place:

  • outside DMXMA venues

  • outside DMXMA class times

  • at private homes, parties, sleep‑overs, gatherings, or social events

  • in private online spaces (group chats, messaging apps, social media DMs)

Because these situations fall outside DMXMA’s supervision and operational control, DMXMA cannot take disciplinary action based solely on allegations relating to external events.

Students/Parents/guardians are responsible for managing and resolving incidents that occur in private settings or online. Where appropriate, they should contact the relevant authority (e.g., school, event host, or police).

DMXMA will only take action if:

  • the behaviour directly affects safety or conduct inside DMXMA, and

  • there is clear, verifiable evidence relevant to DMXMA operations.

This protects students from unfair treatment.

4. Shared Responsibility for Safety

Everyone entering the venue shares responsibility for maintaining a safe environment.

All individuals must:

  • follow instructor directions immediately

  • report hazards, injuries, or unsafe behaviour

  • act respectfully toward others

  • support a calm, positive training atmosphere

  • comply with all safety rules and venue requirements

5. Behaviour Expectations

All students, parents, guardians, and visitors must:

  • behave respectfully toward instructors, students, and other parents

  • use calm, appropriate language

  • follow instructions the first time

  • train or spectate without disrupting others

  • maintain self‑control and awareness

  • treat equipment and the venue with care

  • support a positive learning environment

DMXMA follows martial arts etiquette to promote discipline and safety.

All participants must:

  • wait quietly for class to begin

  • avoid interrupting instructors during teaching

  • show courtesy to all students regardless of age, size, ability, or background

  • keep hands and feet to themselves unless instructed otherwise

7. Safety Rules

To maintain a safe training environment:

  • students must report injuries, pain, or discomfort before training

  • jewellery, watches, and loose items must be removed

  • students must stop immediately when “Stop”, “Freeze”, or “Reset” is called

  • no food or drink (except water) on the mats

  • students must follow all equipment safety instructions

The following behaviours are strictly prohibited inside DMXMA venues or during DMXMA activities:

  • bullying, harassment, intimidation, or discrimination

  • physical or verbal aggression

  • unsafe or reckless behaviour

  • swearing, yelling, or disruptive conduct

  • threatening behaviour toward staff, students, or parents

  • coaching or correcting other students without permission

  • unauthorised use of equipment

  • entering the training area without instructor approval

DMXMA reserves the right to remove any person who engages in prohibited behaviour.

9. Parent & Spectator Expectations

Parents and spectators must:

  • support a calm, respectful training environment

  • avoid coaching, correcting, or directing students from the sidelines

  • raise concerns privately with the instructor, not during class

  • supervise siblings and children not participating

  • arrive on time for drop‑off and pick‑up

  • notify the instructor if delayed

  • avoid entering the training area unless invited

Parents who disrupt classes or behave disrespectfully may be asked to leave the venue.

10. Photography & Video Rules

To protect student privacy and safety:

  • photography or video recording is not permitted without instructor approval

  • parents may only film their own child when authorised

  • no images or videos may be posted online without explicit permission

  • instructors may record training for coaching, safety, or promotional purposes

  • DMXMA will follow all child safety and privacy requirements

Any unauthorised recording may result in removal from the venue.

11. Uniform & Equipment Expectations

Students must:

  • wear the correct DMXMA uniform or approved training attire

  • keep uniforms clean and in good condition

  • bring required protective equipment when needed

  • use equipment only as instructed

  • report damaged equipment immediately

We aim to teach students to be responsible for this but we ask that parents help students arrive to class  prepared.

12. Responding to Misconduct or Safety Concerns

If unsafe or inappropriate behaviour occurs within DMXMA’s scope, instructors may:

  • give a verbal reminder

  • provide a temporary break from training

  • speak with parents

  • remove a student from class for the day

  • implement a behaviour plan

  • suspend participation from classes if necessary for safety

DMXMA will always act proportionately, fairly, and with student wellbeing in mind.

13. Acceptance of Policy

By entering a DMXMA venue or participating in DMXMA activities, all students, parents, guardians, visitors, and spectators agree to follow this Conduct Policy.

Failure to comply may result in removal from the venue or suspension from participation.
